Reagan’s PAC Endorses Rep. Jim Jordan for Speaker of The House

ALEXANDRIA, VA— Today, Citizens for the Republic, the political action committee founded by Ronald Reagan in 1977 proudly announces that it has endorsed Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) to become the next Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Though he has yet to formally announce his bid for the position, we can think of no conservative in congress more deserving of the position.

“Rep. Jordan has proven himself to be a tireless advocate of conservative principles and has consistently moved federal legislation and the House leadership in a conservative direction,” said Craig Shirley, Chairman of Citizens for the Republic (CFTR) and Ronald Reagan Biographer. “Conservatives need a new Speaker who will fulfill the priorities Republicans made to conservative voters and return power to the people. That includes defunding Planned Parenthood, repealing Obamacare and funding border security among other promises. We need a leader who will do more than solicit funds and pay lip service to those that elected them to office.”

“The American people want someone who will fight for them on Capitol Hill. Rep. Jordan’s work in the House Freedom Caucus has been truly impressive making current House leadership look feckless. We are confident he will continue this streak as the new Speaker of the House,” said Mr. Shirley.

Current House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-IL) announced his retirement last month.

Citizens for the Republic (www.CFTR.org) is a conservative grassroots organization dedicated to promoting the ideology and political philosophy of Ronald Reagan. Reagan established the original CFTR in 1977. In 2010, a group of Reagan stalwarts re-launched the organization. Its board includes Chairman Craig Shirley and Director Diana Banister.
